So, as most of you know we are doing online schooling. So far it is going so well, I am so impressed with our children's teachers. They had troubles with getting google classroom ID's and had to go with the flow up until now. They are so patient with explaining log ins, assignments and dealing with the challenges that online learning brings. Both of our children's teachers had a 'get to know you' individual zoom calls, which is very important!! They get 2 - 3 hours a day of on screen learning, with short breaks (recess) and long breaks (for reading and individual school work) during the day, so their schedule for the day is very similar to in class schedule, 9am - 330pm. Online learning is different from what we experienced in March. In March the teachers sent out activities and assignments and I was the one explaining and teaching them. This time the teachers are doing all the teaching and I'm here to support, so getting them all signed into the different platforms, helping with small tech problems and homework support, so not much different from in school learning, the biggest difference is I have to be at home all day. I used to leave during the day to get groceries, or go to appts, or easily leave for a shoot on short notice. I can still do shoots during the day, it just takes a little more coordination to have my husband home. All in all, we are all enjoying online learning!!
There are times when I look over as I am working at the kitchen table......and I just think, ah, I love this so much, then......they start fighting and that feeling is over. As there is for everything, I love and hate things about it. I love not having that rush rush rush in the morning, packing lunches and getting everyone out the door. I love the ease of getting to activities after school, I love having them home, I love that I DO NOT have to be the one to teach them. I love that I can still work while they are home (for the most part). I love that they can still attend school if they have a runny nose.
Now for the not so great stuff.....like I am stuck at home all day, no yoga for me at the yoga studio.....I now do that at home, convenient, yes, but I miss the studio. No running for groceries, or picking up my print order....I hate that they miss their friends, we try to get together as much as we can, but it's not the same. This all just means that I have to plan my day a little better, I will get better at, I'm sure I will. But as you can see the positives definitely out weigh the negatives, I am hoping your school experience is as positive as ours was. I would love to hear about your back to school adventures!!
